AFRICA is not one monolithic place. There are so many different cultures, languages, and traditions. One of my friends is going over the summer, I asked her what country and she said, “Just Africa”. North Africa? Sub-Saharan Africa? Southern Africa? At least give me a region, please. I hate when people say, “I’m going to visit the tribes in Africa”, again, not only diminishing the variety of cultures/traditions, the word tribe, at least the western understanding of it, can be harmful to an extent. Sort of patronizing I think. And to me, visit, in this sense, seems like you’re giving them the privilege of being on your presence. The size of these “tribes” can vary, and some are as large or larger than the populations of (small-medium) European countries. We don’t say the Tribe of Denmark, we just say Danish People.
